Sclerotherapy

Sclerotherapy is a popular treatment for removing spider veins, restoring confidence and confidence in wearing skirts and showing off legs. It involves injecting a special solution into visible veins, causing them to collapse and gradually disappear.

What is Sclerothrapy

Sclerotherapy is a treatment that helps make little broken veins on your legs fade away. A doctor puts a tiny amount of special medicine into the vein using a very small needle. This medicine makes the vein close up so your body can stop using it.

After the vein closes, your blood moves through healthier veins instead. Over time, the treated vein slowly disappears, and your legs look clearer and feel better. It’s a quick and simple treatment that helps people get rid of spider veins and small varicose veins.

Achieving Greater Accuracy
near-infrared vein visualisation

  • Veinlite is a special tool that helps the doctor see veins under your skin more clearly.

  • It uses a bright ring of LED light to shine through the skin and show the “feeder veins” that cause spider veins.

  • These veins can be hard to see with just the eyes, but Veinlite makes them stand out.

  • This helps Dr. Gilles Laur aim the treatment exactly where it’s needed.

  • By treating these deeper veins first, your spider veins are less likely to come back.

  • This means better results, smoother skin, and a treatment that works for a longer time.

Crafting Your Treatment Plan

At Laurel Clinical, Dr. Gilles Laur works carefully to help each person with their spider veins. When you come in for your first visit, he looks closely at your legs and uses special tools, like an ultrasound, to see what’s happening under the skin. This helps him find any deeper veins that might be causing the spider veins you can see on the surface. He also listens to your health history and what you want your legs to look and feel like, so he can make a treatment plan that is just right for you.

During the treatment, Dr. Laur uses special lights and magnifiers so he can see even the tiniest veins clearly. This helps him place the medicine exactly where it needs to go, so the problem veins can close up and fade away. After your visit, you’ll get easy instructions to help your legs heal well, like wearing compression stockings if needed. With his gentle care and smart tools, Dr. Laur works to make your legs feel better and look smoother with as little discomfort as possible.

FAQ

Potentials Risks& Side Effects

Possible Side Effects of Sclerotherapy

  • You might get a little redness, swelling, or bruising where the tiny needle went in.

  • Sometimes the skin can feel a bit itchy or tender, but this usually goes away.

  • The treated veins might look a little darker for a short time before they fade.

Rare but More Serious Problems

  • A small blood clot can form in the treated vein (this is rare).

  • Very rarely, someone might have an allergic reaction to the medicine.

  • There’s a small chance of a tiny skin sore or a small air bubble that can make vision blurry for a moment — but this almost never happens.

How Effective is it?

  • Sclerotherapy is really good at fixing spider veins.

  • About half to most of the treated veins (50–80%) can fade or disappear after each treatment.

  • Most people need 1 to 3 treatments to get the best results.

  • The medicine injected into the vein makes it close up, and then the body slowly absorbs it.

  • Many people feel better too — with less itching, burning, or discomfort.

  • You might start seeing changes in a few weeks, and the veins usually keep fading over a few months.

  • When deeper “feeder veins” are treated too, results can last even longer.

  • Wearing compression stockings and keeping your legs healthy can help the results stay great.
